JAMMU, Oct 13: Taking a strong exception of the directive of the BJP-PDP Government to the State police directing it to make frequent use of Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu province to prevent people from protesting against the violation of the State law on sale and slaughter of bovine animals, NPP has rebuked and dubbed the move as suppressive and unconstitutional.
Addressing a press conference here today at Party Headquarters, Balwant Singh Mankotia, State president, JKNPP said that the people in Jammu province were shell- shocked while BJP maintained a stoic silence when the State police and the administration were allowing people in Kashmir not only to brazenly violate the law on the cow slaughter but also looking as passive spectators when anti-India rallies were taken out, ISIS, LeT and pro-Pak banners hoisted every now and then.
He further added that the directive issued by the DG State police, K Rajendra, to the State police on the behest of the State Government, was in fact a declaration of a reign of intimidation and suppression against the people of Jammu.
Condemning the anti-Jammu and anti-Hindu attitude of the State BJP on behest of PDP, Ex-MLA from Udhampur, said that the duplicitous behavior of BJP was now brazenly clear as it had chosen to side with those law-defying forces who wanted the revocation of this law.
NPP State president warned the State Government, particularly the BJP, to desist from letting loose a reign of terror in Jammu and instead stand with the people of Jammu to uphold law of the land and the sentiments of the people, otherwise, the people of Jammu would have no other option than launching a non-cooperation movement against the State Government.
