JAMMU, May 24: National Panthers Party (NPP) chairman and MLA Ramnagar, Harshdev Singh has strongly criticized the NC-Congress Coalition Government in the State for the neglect of Mansar, Surinsar and Dalsar lakes in Jammu region.
In a press statement issued here today, the NPP legislator alleged that funds worth hundreds of crores are being provided for the water bodies in Kashmir whereas, the important lakes of Jammu are being ignored. Mr Singh said Rs 122.56 crore were sanctioned for Nageen and Dal lakes during the year 2012-13 by the Union Government. It was in addition to Rs 386 crore sanctioned under PMRP for Dal lake project. It is unfortunate that no provision of funds was kept for Jammu water bodies. He also demanded inquiry into the funds being spent on the name of Dal and Nageen projects.
The NPP leader further ridiculed the much publicized claims of the State Government of having achieved yet another extension from the Government of India in the implementation of PM’s reconstruction plan for a further period of two years. He said the State Government owes an explanation in the first instance as to the reason for its failures and lapses in ensuing time bound implementation of the Rs 29000 crore PM Reconstruction Plan in the State. He regretted that PMRP which was to be implemented by 2009-10, had been delayed and hardly 40 % funds could be utilized by State showing poor performance. Last year, the Central Government reduced allocations from Rs 1207 crore to Rs 700 crore in view of poor utilization by State.
