JAMMU, Oct 31: NPP Chairman Harshdev Singh MLA, today appealed the students and youth to come forward in large numbers to support and strengthen the party so as to usher a new era of progress, prosperity and peace in the State.
He said that the youth and students are harbingers of change and transformation and the JKNPP believes in empowerment of youth for ultimate good of the people of the State. Mr. Singh was interacting with various students and youth delegations that called upon him today to felicitate him on taking over the Chairmanship of JKNPP. A large number of students and youth joined the JKNPP on the occasion. The function was organized by Young Panthers and NPSU.
Addressing gathering, Mr. Singh said that JKNPP would vociferously highlight the issues of youth and launch a vigorous campaign for honouring the commitments made by the Government for addressing the grievances of youth and for ameliorating their lot. Lambasting the NC-Cong alliance for the highly contemptuous treatment doled out to students and youth, Mr. Singh sought early implementation of various schemes and policies announced by the Central as well as State Government so that youth could reap the fruits of such schemes. He said the policies and programmes related to Employment, Vocational Training, Admissions in professional courses as well as scholarship schemes were required to be made applicable uniformly to all regions of State without any bias.
NPP leader said that the Government had further announced provision of jobs to 50,000 youth in regular establishment on August 15, 2010 but implementing agencies failed to take any action in respect thereof. He said likewise the Government announcement in August 2010 to engage 43,000 candidates in various Government Departments on casual basis/daily rated basis also didn’t fructify due to lack of will and utter neglect of this vital issue.
He further ridiculed the Government for distributing appointment orders to mere 1060 candidates of Kashmir valley under PM’s package announced in July 2010 in pursuance of Rang Rajan Committee report. He said that the Government had announced the provision of 1,50,000 jobs under the said scheme in five years but in 28 months it had merely appointed 1060 candidates from Kashmir valley. He sought timely and early honoring of the scheme with equitable share of the jobs to all the regions of the State including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
