UDHAMPUR, Nov 11: Raising the demand of employment, ex-MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia blamed that successive Central and State Governments ignored the educated unemployed youth of Jammu region.
The ex-MLA asked the Central and State Govts that preference should be given in employment to those youth who have provided their agriculture land to Defence Ministry.
Raising the plight of unemployed educated youth of Udhampur district, a protest rally was organized under the leadership of NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia from Slathia Chowk to DC office Udhampur. A large number of party workers and unemployed youth worked as porters in Army joined the protest rally. After reaching the DC office, Mankotia submitted a memorandum through DC to Union Defence Minister, New Delhi.
NPP president, Balwant Singh Mankotia through memorandum submitted to Union Defence Minister, demanded that Kashmiri youth already getting 90 percent share in Govt jobs and Jammu youth are getting hardly 10 percent jobs. Unfortunately, youth who have provided thousands of kanal agriculture land in Udhampur and Jammu region to Army are struggling for job in FOD and MES as mere labourers and peons.
Mankotia said that for these posts youth from outside the State are engaged neglecting the local youth while they have provided land to Army. It is very strange that unemployed educated and patriotic youth of Jammu region never gets job in State nor in Central Government jobs.
During Kargil war in 1999, hundreds of youth from Udhampur and Jammu worked as porters in Army and despite courts direction failed to get employment in priority basis, Mankotia regretted.
He warned the Govt that if the youth of Udhampur and Jammu would not get justice may force they to launch an agitation for such a biased behavior of the Central and State Government.
