JAMMU, Dec 21: For the sake of restoration of the identity of Dogra land which has been facing crisis since decades, a large number of Panthers Party activists led by party chairman Harshdev Singh and State president Balwant Singh Mankotia staged a protest demonstration here today.
While addressing the media Harshdev Singh strongly condemned the successive State Governments for terming the Administrative Services of J&K as KAS, KPS and KCS in official records and sought the rectification of anomalous situation by duly incorporating Jammu region’s name in the abbreviations for the said services.
He exhorted the present State Government to rename the said Administrative Services as JKAS, JKPS and JKCS respectively so as to address the sentiments of various aspiring groups and regions. He regretted that the aforesaid Services continued to omit the name of Jammu region from their nomenclature by mentioning the same as KAS, KPS and KCS in official records thus hurting the self esteem and pride of Jammu region. He said that the name of the State being J&K, it was highly preposterous to disregard the identity of Jammu region by omitting to make its mention in the highest level administrative services of the State.
Seeking parity between Jammu and Kashmir on multifarious issues, Mr Singh deplored that the Dogra land had been subjected to perpetual bias and prejudicial treatment with the said region further facing an identity crisis. He said that the Jammu region not only suffered, neglect and deprivation in terms of allocation of resources, employment, Assembly and Parliamentary seats etc but was being treated as a colony by the Kashmir centric leadership. He said the history bore testimony to the fact that the people of Jammu region who fought for expanding the boundaries of State had to take recourse to agitational course even for the purpose of realizing their constitutional guarantees and legitimate concerns. He said that Panthers party had been forcefully agitating at various forums for positioning of Jammu region as an equal partner with Kashmir region in multifarious fields.
Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yash Pal Kundal also addressed the gathering and asked NPP workers to get ready for waging long struggle. Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Pratap and Sham Ghorkha were also present.
