Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 14:  The NPP workers today held a protest along with local people in front of the office of the PHE Department at BC Road here today.
The protest was held under the leadership of Zonal president of NPP, Neeraj Gupta. The agitating workers were raising voice against for irregular supply of the water in Jammu and other nearby areas.
While speaking on the occasion NPP leader  said that every year in summers the Jammuities face the problem of irregular water supplies. There are some colonies where the water supplied to the people once or twice in a week. Not only this, the water which is supplied to these localities is contaminated and harmful to drink, but the people have no choice. The reason behind this contamination is the old, broken and rust coated pipes which need immediate replacement.
Nobody is there to take care of the people of Jammu. The project of fetching water  from  Chenab is also postponed by the present Govt like other projects of the Jammu region which are waiting for completion by the people of Jammu region. This project if completed then it will definitely improve the water supply in the Jammu.
He further drawn  the attention the Govt.’s irresponsible attitude in solving the issue of PHE  workers which added to the miseries of the people.  Due to workers continuous strike, water supply has been affected but Govt is in deep sleep and not even interested in solving the issue at the earliest.
