NEW DELHI, Aug 31: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the recent proposal approved by the Union Cabinet to set up National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is not only a governance reform, but also a social and economic reform.
Speaking at an All India Online Panel Discussion attended by experts from different related fields, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Common Eligibility Test (CET) to be conducted by the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will bring a paradigm shift in recruitment system, thus facilitating the aspiring youth to seek the job.
Describing it as a path breaking historic decision, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it would not have been possible without the personal intervention and interest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, the most outstanding social and economic feature of this reform is that it will carry the recruitment process down to every district and smaller towns, thus making it accessible even to youth living in peripheral areas.
Dr Jitendra Singh revealed that his office is receiving dozens of messages every day from young job aspirants from every part of the country, hailing the decision to conduct a Common Eligibility Test. He said, a number of youngsters have uploaded videos to inform that in the past the district in which they live never had an examination selection centre for recruitment by any major national agency and therefore this has come to them as a surprise blessing which they had never imagined would happen.
As a new breakthrough, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the common preliminary examination will be conducted in 12 indian languages with the avowed aim of later enlarging it to include other languages of the 8th schedule as well. He said, most of the State governments have expressed their inclination to avail of the common score card for recruitment in State level vacancies and hoped that in future the same common score card will also be used by the private sector as well.
