NRI and ex-India pilgrims too can undertake pilgrimage to Amarnath

SRINAGAR : The Non Resident of Indian (NRI) and ex-India pilgrims, living in different countries across the globe can also undertake the pilgrimage to holy Amanrath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalays, commencing from July 2, 2015.
However, they too have to submit a medical certificate before Yatra Permit is issued in favour of any pilgrim, officials of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said.
No one below the age of 13 years or above the age of 75 years and no lady with more than six weeks pregnancy shall be registered for undertaking the Yatra, they added.
The officials said SASB has set up a mechanism to enable NRI and ex-India pilgrims to register themselves for the Yatra.  This facility specially established in view of the fact that a large number of devotees living abroad undertake this annual Yatra, they said, adding an ex-India pilgrim or NRI shall need to send scanned copies of application form, compulsory health certificate, scanned photograph of the application and registration fee of Rs 500 per yatri.
Officials said these documents can be sent to Manager Security, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Circle Office, Jammu, at the email address: coiksec@pnb.co.in  However, registration fee of Rs 500 per Yatri to be deposited in the PNB Swift Code: PUNBINBBJTS, Account Number 0794002101003771, PNB, Branch, Rehari, Jammu.
They said compulsory Health Certificate should have been issued by National Health Services of the country concerned after February 10, 2015. The intending pilgrim will have the choice of collecting the Yatra Permit from the designated branch of PNB located at Jammu or Srinagar.
This choice shall be indicated by the pilgrim in his or her forwarding e-mail. However, the registration of ex-India Pilgrims shall be subject to availability of Registration quota for the preferred day and route and Manager Security, PNB has been assigned the task to inform the Pilgrim, via e-mail, whether he or she has been Registered for the Yatra and the location of Bank Branch at Jammu or Srinagar from where the Yatri would be required to collect the Yatra Permit.
Officials said the SASB has design and layout of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Permit Registration Forms which have a number of high security features to ensure against these Forms being duplicated by unlawful elements. (AGENCIES)
