JAMMU, Mar 20: Protesting outside Jammu Tawi Railway Station, Northern Railways Men’s Union (NRMU) Running Staff on Monday asked the government to address their grievances.
The protest was led by NRMU Running Staff Jammu Branch secretary, Shamber Singh who said: “It is high time now that the government should address our issues and if they fail to address the same, then we will be compelled to intensify our agitation for which the government will be responsible.”
Singh said that it is also the duty of railway officials in chair and the authorities at the helm to take up their issues with the government at the highest level and get them resolved at an earliest.
“Union will not spare any such elements which hesitate to take our issues at the right quarters for solution,” he maintained adding: “The officials have to pay the price for turning a blind eye if the grievances are not addressed.”
S.V Das, J.P Singh, vice president, Ram Pal Sharma, Drain Manager, Anil Sharma, Arun Sharma, Brij Mohan, Rajesh, Somnath and others asserted that the government must stop imposing anti-running staff policies and start thinking for their welfare and betterment.
Loco pilots and other members of running staff were also present on the occasion.
The protesters claimed that due to shortage of staff in mechanical wing, running staff is being engaged for washing and cleaning the yards.
