JAMMU, Feb 21: NSF has alleged pick and choose in M Ed selection list by Govt BEd College, Jammu, under Cluster University of Jammu.
In a press conference, NSF president Dr Vikas Sharma said that the administration of Cluster University, Jammu released provisional M Ed course merit list on third week of January 21 and asked the candidates to clear discrepancies. On Feb 15, M Ed course merit list of candidates alongwith percentage of merit was declared and accordingly eligible candidates were called for counseling on Feb 8, 21 and after documents verification and holding counseling by the committee headed by Prof Rajinder Kour from College of Education Jammu , the candidates, who were present on Feb 8 according to merit were asked to pay fee of Rs 14000, which was done by candidates, he added.
“However, on February 19, the college suddenly issued another list of candidates for allotment of seats without mentioning the percentage of merit against each candidate, thus giving rise to suspicion of some malpractice in revising the list,” he said and alleged that a candidates at serial number 25 having high merit in list of Feb 5 and whose counseling was done and fee deposited on Feb 8, 21 has been dropped and candidates falling at serial Nos. 26 and 30 with less merit were taken in the allotment list of Feb 19 without showing percentage of merit of each candidate.
Dr Vikas further disclosed that as per merit list of Feb 5, one candidates of ALC category at serial number 21 having 75 percent marks has been taken in ALC category dropping her from the open merit list flouting rules, whereas the open merit cut off is 73.55 percent thereby marring the chances of next ALC candidate falling at serial no 34 with 72.77 percent numbers.
Questioning credibility of the Selection Committee, Dr Vikas Sharma has demanded thorough enquiry to clear the confusion created by Cluster University, Jammu. He also appealed the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, who is Chancellor of Cluster University Jammu to look into this gross irregularity and hold independent probe in the matter to protect the interest of meritorious candidates.
