JAMMU, Aug 28: The National Secular Forum (NSF) has flayed the PDP-BJP coalition Government for the dilapidated condition of the arterial roads in and around the city and blamed it squarely for this condition.
Addressing a press conference, the NSF president Dr Vikas Sharma said that both the partners in coalition Government were unaware of the hardships being faced by the common masses and enjoying the privileges of being in the power. “There is crisis everywhere owing to poor condition of the roads. Almost all the roads are in bad shape and at some spots ditches have been formed on the roads which expose the claims of Government vis-à-vis development of the State,” he expressed.
Vikas alleged that the Public Works Department (PWD) has become a hub of corruption and loot where the official concerned are least bothered in up-keeping the roads.  “Besides, the people’s representatives, the so called MLAs, have also gone underground and avoid queries on condition of roads which is pathetic,” he added and mentioned that several accidents were happening on the roads in which many people had been killed besides, injury to scores other and despite this the authorities were unmoved.
Sharma asked the MLAs and Ministers to come out from their shell and take up the issue of roads at appropriate level so that people could heave a sigh of relief. He warned that if no measures were taken soon, the aggrieved people of the city would come together and launch massive agitation against the injustice being meted out to them.
Among those who were present in the press-conference, included Papinder Singh, Amit Sanotra and Narinder Singh.
