NSF, FFMA pay tribute to martyr Udham Singh

JAMMU, Dec 26: National Secular Forum (NSF) and Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (FFMA) here today organised programmes and paid rich tribute to Martyr Udham Singh on his birth anniversary.
In a programme organized at Jammu University campus NSF paid tributes to martyr Udham Singh.
Amidst slogans praising the martyr for laying down his life for the motherland NSF activists garlanded his portrait.
Dr. Vikas Sharma, NC zonal secretary was chief guest on this occasion while Dr. Sukhdev Singh, president NSF presided over the function.
Vikshay Vashist, State secretary NSF was guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vikas Sharma said that true tribute to Udham Singh would be in launching struggle for restoration of Statehood to J&K.
He claimed that J&K has suffered immensely due to misadventures of the Centre.
Dr. Sukhdev Singh threw light on the life of martyr Udham Singh.
Vikshay Vashist also spoke on the occasion.
Roshan Sharma, Jammu District president delivered the welcome address while Mohd Umar Farooq, president University Unit delivered vote of thanks.
Among those who were present on the occasion were Abhishek Uppal, Vineet Gupta, Aditya Khajuria, Arun Kumar, Aditya Kargotra and Tufail Reyaz Khan.
Meanwhile, the birth anniversary of Udham Singh was also celebrated by FFMA at Mahesh Pura Park wherein FFMA members garlanded the photo of Udham Singh and paid him rich tribute.
Udham Singh was hanged at Pentonville Prison in London on July 31, 1940, for shooting dead General O’ Dwyer who was Punjab’s Lieutenant Governor when the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in Amritsar on April 13, 1919 leaving at least 400 people dead and over 1,000 injured when Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered his troops to fire at unarmed civilians who had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh.
A special programme was held at Mahesh Pura Park which among others was attended by chairman of FFMA, Rajiv Mahajan; president, Prof. S.S Bhalwal; general secretary, Karnail Chand; vice presidents-Pritam Sharma, Garu Ram, Nirmal Kishore and Kamal Sharma; secretary, Parbhat Kapahi and others.
“Life of Udham Singh will continue to fill the hearts of our youth with the spirit of patriotism for generations,” Rajiv Mahajan said.
Prof. S.S Bhalwal, Karnail Chand and Pritam Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
