“Despite ban, the Chinese thread is not only being sold openly in the markets but steep surge in its use for kite flying has been a serious concern as daily two-three people are receiving mild to serious injuries but the administration in general and the Police Department in particular seem to be in deep slumber” Sharma said.
A slight contact with the thread while on move can cause severe injuries. In some cases, people have received grievous injuries. It is also a big threat to birds, he added.
Vikas also flayed the district administration for passing orders merely on papers and not ensuring its implementation in letter and spirit, endangering the lives of innocent citizens as several people have got injured while coming in contact with this Chinese thread which is used for flying kites.
He demanded from district administration to pass necessary orders to the Police to enforce ban and launch a manhunt to seize the entire quantity of Chinese thread dumped in the market.
