JAMMU, Feb 17: The National Secular Forum (NSF) has vehemently opposed the proposal of Jammu University (JU) and Kashmir University (KU) regarding the enhancement in the retirement age of Professors from 62 to 65 yrs.
Addressing a press conference, here today, Dr Vikas Sharma, NSF President said that JU and KU had mooted a proposal to recommend enhancing the retirement age of Professors from 62 to 65 year, which is anti-youth. “Enhancing the age of Professors will block the promotional avenues for Assistant Professors and Associate Professors for another three years which would further block new recruitments at Assistant Professor level,” he said and added that J&K was already battling against the menace of unemployment and under such circumstances enhancement in the retirement age of Professors would be like a crime against unemployed youth.
The NSF chief urged the Lieutenant Governor not to fall into the trap of JU and KU authorities and give a thought to the aspirations of youth before deciding the matter.
