JAMMU, Nov 21: National Secular Forum (NSF) R S Pura Unit today staged a protest against poor healthcare system in Government Medical College Jammu and demanded free OPD in the hospital during evening hours also.
The NSF activists, led by senior vice-president Surjit Choudhary, assembled in front of Government Degree College R S Pura and also torched the effigy of the Minister for Medical and Technical Education accusing him of having miserably failed to provide proper healthcare facilities in GMC and Associated Hospitals.
“The start of Evening Shift for private practice of Government Medical College (GMC) doctors is a live example of Government’s apathetic attitude and this is sheer exploitation of common masses who will now have to pay without getting any additional facility in return,” he alleged.
“On one hand, the State Government is announcing that it would ban private practices of doctors and on the other hand, it authorizes them to earn money in the hospitals,” he added.
