JAMMU, May 31: Expressing serious concern over shifting of doctors and para medical staff from rural hospitals during COVID crisis, National Secular Forum has urged Lt Governor to intervene into the matter for saving rural population from vulnerability to COVID-19.
In a statement, NSF president Dr Vikas Sharma explained that since the surge of COVID infection has been extremely high in the rural areas during the ongoing second wave of the pandemic with swift hike in death rate, the flawed decision of Government to make Rural Health Hospitals defunct by diverting doctors from there towards city hospital, is going to have serious repercussions.
This is likely to make the bad situation on the health front more worse in the days to come, if the decision is not reviewed by the Government to maintain healthy balance between rural and urban health facilities, he added and urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene for safety of rural population.
