JAMMU, Oct 30: National Secular Forum has expressed its reservations over the Jammu Kashmir Public University Bill-2022, which was recently introduced by the Administrative Council.
Addressing a press-conference here today, Vikshay Vashist – Jammu District President of NSF, said that universities were autonomous bodies and Government/bureaucratic interference in their functioning would disturb the working atmosphere and kill the basic spirit of autonomy at these institutions of higher learning.
Apprehending irregularities in recruitments in post bill situations, he said the recruitment will be done by the PSC and the SSB, which are already been involved in multiple recruitment scams in recent times.
Further questioning the need of the said bill, he asked why has this bill been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir alone while all universities across the country are governed by UGC rules?
NSF leader threatened massive agitations against the Government and demanded immediate withdrawal of the bill.
Among those, who attended the press-conference included Roshan Sharma, Jammu University Unit President of NSF, Puneet Bakshi, Abhishek Uppal, Aditya Khajuria, Akshay Kumar and Viren Nagotra.
