NSF takes JU authorities to task

JAMMU Nov 16:  National Secular Forum (NSF) has taken strong note of mal functioning of Jammu University.
At a  press conference here today Ravi Choudhary general secretary of the Forum said that working of Jammu University is worsening day by day and the authorities are taking the things for granted which has added to problems of students a lot.
He said while the business school has started admission process for MBA, the Department has not yet made the prospectus available for the students and in turn the students are provided with two pages for an amount of Rs 1000 without any form to fill in.
He said that students are asked that they have to fill the forms later. He said that forms are part of the prospectus and the same are not provided to the students.
He said that University is minting money from the students by hook or crook without providing them requisite facilities.
He said that lot of funds are provided for the development works but no such development is seen on grounds. The officials of the University are enjoying every facility and students are deprived of it, he added.
He also demanded new edition books be provided to the scholars in Central Library so that they are facilitated in their research related works. He further demanded to connect departmental libraries with Central Library through internet so as to provide better facilities to the students.
Chiman Singh University Unit President said that where University talks of go hi tech by using Smart Card technology but no such thing has been introduced so far. The money has been collected admission time by the students for the issue of Smart Cards but no such facility has been provided to the students till date, he added..
He warned that NSF activists would launch indefinite agitation on the tehsil level, if the University authorities didn’t fulfill their demand.
NSF has also sought the intervention of Governor and urged him to look into the matter.
