JAMMU, Jan 24: National Statistical Office Jammu today organized one day Round Table Conference on Annual Survey Industries 2021-22.
National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division), Government of India under Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation is conducting survey on Annual Survey of Industries.
This conference was organized to sensitize the business associations about the objectives of the Annual Survey of Industries and also for self- compilation of statistical return by the business entities.
The conference was inaugurated by Kishore Kumar, Deputy Director General, NSO (FOD), UT of J&K. In his inaugural speech, a broad overview about the objectives/scope/coverage on the Annual Survey of Industries were highlighted.
Kumar in his address spoke about the inception of Annual Survey of Industries since 1959 and told that it was previously conducted under the Collection of Statistics Act 1953. He further added that presently the survey is conducted under the collection of Statistics Act, 2008 as amended in 2017 under the rules framed there under in 2011.
DDG also addressed that ASI is designed to obtain comprehensive and detailed data with the objective of estimating the contribution of Registered Manufacturing Sector as a whole to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
The conference was also attended by around 30 representatives from various industrial units of district Jammu, Samba and Kathua where there is maximum concentration of Industrial units. Conference was also attended by Senior Statistical Officers of RO Jammu who are presently engaged in the field work of ASI.
Lalit Mahajan, Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu & president BBIA along with Viraj Malhotra general secretary BBIA & Convenor Federation of Industries also attended this conference.
Mahajan highlighted the difficulties faced by the Industrial Units in compilation and submission of industrial data. He also highlighted the problem of duplication of data by various Central as well as State Government agencies and welcomed this initiative taken by NSO (FOD), about the importance of this data.
