NSS Foundation Day celebrated with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Sept 24: Various educational institutions celebrated NSS Foundation Day with enthusiasm and zeal.
NSS unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade celebrated NSS Foundation Day. NSS volunteers presented colourful cultural programme including NSS song, dances and skits. Dr PP Singh, NSS programme officer highlighted various NSS activities and programmes conducted by the unit. Later, Principal of the College, Dr Hemla Aggarwal, who was the chief guest, planted sapling of an ornamental plant, followed by plantation of various saplings of medicinal value. Dr. Sushma Mahajan, NSS Programme Officer presented the vote of thanks.
NSS Foundation Day was celebrated in Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College. On the occasion, a seminar for NSS volunteers and other students was organised under the supervision of Dr Rajinder Singh, Programme officer. Dr Satinder Singh, Nodal Principal for Jammu Division Colleges was the chief guest, who while speaking emphasized on the significance of observing the NSS Foundation day.
NSS Day was celebrated by NSS unit of the Government PG College of Education. Principal of the College Prof Kaushal Samotra was the chief guest. NSS volunteers expressed their views on the importance of the day. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Programme Officer Prof Aksa.
NSS unit of Government Degree College, Kathua, celebrated NSS Day, with zeal and enthusiasm. Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Kathua, was the chief guest, while, Dr Nater Singh, principal of the college, faculty members and students were also present. A cultural programme was also presented by the NSS volunteers. The programme was organised under the supervision of programme officers Prof Raj Kiran, Dr Suram Singh and Prof Naresh Sharma.
NSS unit of Government Degree College, Rajouri, also celebrated NSS Day with zeal and enthusiasm. Prof SH Shah, Principal, GDC Mendhar, was the chief guest, while, Prof HS Ishar, presided over the function. The NSS volunteers presented cultural programme.
NSS Unit of Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, celebrated NSS Day with zeal and enthusiasm. Prof Rita Munshi, former Principal of the College, was the chief guest, while, Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College presided over the function. NSS volunteers presented a colourful cultural programme. The programme was held under the supervision of NSS programme officers, Prof Hans Raj, Prof Rashi Gupta and Prof Ajay Gupta.
NSS Unit of Government MAM College celebrated NSS Day with the inmates of Home for the Aged and Infirm, Amphalla. They initiated cleanliness drive, participated in cooking and distributed fruit and eatables among them. Dr Ramesh Chander, Principal of the college, encouraged the NSS volunteers and instilled the preaching of humanity and philanthropic attitude among them. Dr M Muzammal Hussain, NSS Programme Officer, highlighted the importance of the day.
NSS Foundation Day was celebrated at Bhargava Degree College, Samba. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Madhu Gupta, who while speaking presented brief history about NSS. Ruchi Manhas, Co-ordinator officer of NSS gave a presentation on the topic  “Gender Discrimination”. Shallu Chalotra also delivered a presentation on the topic “Say No To Plastic Bags” and Himanshu Sharma also gave a presentation on the topic “Water Conservation”.
NSS volunteers of Trikuta Degree College visited Ved Mandir, Amphalla to celebrate NSS Foundation Day. The volunteers presented a cultural programme. Basic amenities were distributed among the inmates. The volunteers’ team was flagged off by MD Ritesh Sharma in presence of Japana Sharma and Dr Roop Lal Sharma, chairman. The volunteers were accompanied by Arti Sharma, NSS Co-ordinator, Manisha, Seema Sharma, Kashifa Yassin and Sunita Magotra.
