NSS Unit of Dogra Law College organizes debate

JAMMU, Feb 7: Dogra Law College in collaboration with the NSS unit of the college organized “4th Matushri Inter-School Debate competition 2015” on the topic “In the opinion of this house, Does India need a shift towards Presidential form of Govt?”
25 participants from different schools of the Jammu District participated in the contest.
Prof. Desh Bandhu, Director, Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the Prize distribution function. Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister for Higher Education and Chairman, Dogra Law College presided over the Prize Distribution function.
While speaking on the occasion Prof. Desh Bandhu applauded the efforts of the Management of the Dogra Law College for organizing such events.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak Chairman Dogra Law College in his presidential address stressed upon the importance of organizing such type of Debate competitions so that the young minds are trained and given exposure by deliberating upon such topics which help in the Personality development of children and the development of Nation as well.
Earlier, Prof B D Damral, Director Academics Dogra Educational Trust presented welcome address.
Prof. R P Sharma, former Head, Department of English, University of Jammu, Dr. Monica Narang. Assistant Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu and Prof. B. D. Damral, Director (Academics) Dogra Educational Trust were the jury members.
Ms. Hasimar Kour from Jodhamal Public School bagged the first prize with a cash prize of Rs. 1000, second prize was won by Roopsi from B.S.F. School Paloura with a cash prize of Rs. 700, while the third prize was won by Hiteshi Sharma from Govt Girls Hr Sec. School, Shastri Nagar with a cash prize of Rs. 500. First consolation prize was won by Abhimanyu Kalsotra from Shiksha Niketan Public School, Jeewan Nagar with a cash prize of Rs.300 and 2nd consolation prize was won by Ananya Sharma from Jodhamal Public School with a cash prize of Rs.300. Special Consolation prize was given to Shivani Misri from Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Rehari with a cash prize of Rs. 300. The Runner Trophy was won by Jodhamal Public School for the third consecutive time.
Samar Dev Singh Charak Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust and Ghambir Dev Singh Charak Member Trustee were also present on the occasion.
Sonia Gupta Lecturer in Law and Subha Zutshi were the stage secretaries while the vote of thanks was presented by Sonia Gupta
Vineet Dubey, Lecturer in Sociology and NSS Programme Officer of the College organized the competition.
