JAMMU, Nov 1: Government College of Education (GCOE) Jammu today adopted the village Lower Jandial of Nagrota constituency for generation of awareness activities on different important aspects and to help the villagers in whatever way possible.
During the first-ever visit to the village, the NSS volunteers of the College had detailed interaction with a large number of villagers in the presence of Sarpanch Anjali. They also distributed candles/divas, stationery items, books and woolen clothes to approximately 60 villagers, mostly women.
Principal of GCOE, Dr Kulvinder Kour appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers in adopting the village ahead of the festival of lights and spending time with the villagers.
The NSS volunteers also educated the people about crackers-free Diwali in order to save the environment, which is already under severe threat because of pollution.
The villagers particularly Sarpanch appreciated the efforts of GCOE and NSS volunteers and assured all possible help in their endeavour to generate awareness among the villagers on various burning issues.
The program was adroitly conducted by NSS Programme Officer, Dr Shubhra Jamwal along with organizing committee comprising Prof. Shapia Shameem Bhatti, Prof. Sarita Dogra and Prof Seema Kumari.
