Srinagar, Dec 26: The nursing and paramedical aspirants today staged a protest against the BOPEE seeking a second round of counselling to fill the vacant seats.
Scores of aspirants appeared in the press enclave and were seen holding placards and raising slogans in favour of their demands.
“We are the aspirants of B.Sc Nursing and paramedical courses and all that we want is the second round of counselling so that the vacant seats are filled and we are provided with the necessary relief,” Rafiqa, one of the aspirants said.
She said that the BOPEE was doing it in their way while they have to do it professionally and as per the rules and regulations, but in our case, they are throwing everything to the wind,” she said.
The aspirants said they have been dropping their academic years to get admission in the courses which they are intending, but they said that due to the callous attitude of the authorities, they have been left in the lurch.
“There are seats vacant and they should fulfil the same by carrying out the second round of the counselling which has not been held so far, and as result, our careers are jeopardized,” the aspirants said.
The aspirants claimed that those who fall in the down ranks have been given the seats, “but the higher rankers have got nothing so far.
We have been approaching the authorities but nothing has been done so far,” they said.
They said that as per details, more than 600 vacant seats are available. “But we fail to understand why they are following a different path even though there was already a delay in the first round of the counselling.”
The aspirants said that if they deserve it, why can’t they get that? “First round was done online, why can’t they do the second one? We seek the intervention of LG in this matter,” the aspirants demanded.
