Srinagar, June 25: Engaged years ago under Nation Youth Corps (NYC), scores of people today staged a protest demanding reengagement in the services after they were disengaged.
The protestors said that they were appointed in various departments and even got salaries for two consecutive years, but after that, they were disengaged.
Around 8000 such people were appointed in 2010, and in the year 2012, they were disengaged. Following the protests, the Government opened a link and asked employees to register via biometrics; however, some were left out.
“There are around 571 such employees who could not register due to the non-availability of Aadhar cards in the year 2017-thus we were left out for that. These 571 fall across J&K,” Omar, one such employee said.
He said that for the last 3 years, they are running from pillar to post in order to get their issue resolved, but nothing concrete has come out of it so far.
“The file is as of now lying in the LG’s office, but nothing has happened so far. On 27 February government constituted a committee, but that committee has been able to meet so far and our issue remains lingering,” they said.
The NYC employees demanded that they should be reengaged with no delay, with an appeal to the LG G C Murmu to personally look into the matter.
