Srinagar, Oct 27: National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers who are on hunger strike since September called off their protest after the assurance by Finance Minister (FM) Haseeb Drabu.
The NYC volunteers are demanding the implementation of a 2014 Cabinet order vis-à-vis their induction into various Government departments and they were on the hunger strike as the new government had not implemented the order so far.
However, the FM visited the NYC volunteers at Pratap Park here in city and assured them that their demands would be met by January 2016. Following the assurance, the NYCs called off their hunger strike this evening.
