JAMMU, Jan 29: National Youth Corps (NYC) Association continued their protest demonstration in Jammu demanding immediate regularization of their services and enhancement of their wages.
Scores of NYC youth have been staging protesting for last 27 days outside BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar (Jammu) for not redressing demands of 8000 NYC youth who were engaged on merit basis in 2010.
The protesting youth raised slogans in support of their demands. They said this is not the first time that they have come on roads for their demands. “Before the year 2014, when the BJP was in opposition, its leaders supported our demands and joined our protest even at Jantar Mantar but after coming to power, our demands became non-genuine for these BJP leaders,” they added.
Stating that NYC Association time to time demanded the Government to come up with a comprehensive policy by which the future of 8000 NYC remain secure, the protesting youth said the Government gave only verbal assurances but done nothing at ground level. They demanded enhancement of their wages while stating that with meager wages of Rs 2500, they cannot even make both ends meet.
The protesting NYC youth said that they have been working in different departments for last 12 years with the hope that they will be absorbed on available vacancies but recently Government declared them volunteers. “We are not volunteers as it was the BJP Government which gave us SRO 520 in the year 2017,” they added and requested the LG Administration for regularizing their jobs, enhancement of wages and extending them benefit of health insurance policies.
