KATHUA, Feb 9: As a part of the ‘Punarjagaran Abhiyan’ launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India across the country through Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kathua has been selected as one of the district NYKs’ for implementing the programme.
The main objectives of the ‘Punarjagaran Abhiyan (Mass Awakening) is to aware and educate youth for empowerment and to play constructive role in developmental activities to promote and sensitize public to participate in National Flagship Programmes viz Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachaao-Beti Padhao, Practice & Promote Good Governance, Skill Development. Motivate and facilitate construction of Toilets under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and organizing Shram Dhan. It will also aim at strengthening crusade against atrocities on Women, Female Foeticide, dowry, drugs Abuse, Alcoholism and corruption.
‘Punarjagaran Abhiyan’ will be implemented in Kathua District with active collaboration and coordination with District Administration, Panchayats, Youth Clubs, Mahila Mandals, NGOs, Social Organizations, Sports Clubs, Cultural Organizations, retired officials and Volunteer.
