JAMMU, June 11: Under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra, several organizations held a strong protest demonstration near Press Club Jammu, here today for implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in J&K .
Representatives of All J&K OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward classes Federation (JK unit), All J&K OBC Welfare forum, Backward Classes Union, Rajouri-Poonch, different Other Backward Classes and communities took part in the demonstration.
They were demanding implementation of 27 percent reservation in J&K Government jobs and educational institutions, including professional colleges and higher educational institutions.
While addressing the demonstration, Mohan Lal Pawar, general secretary OBC Mahasabha, condemned the attitude of J&K Government and Government of India for not disbanding the incumbent Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission, headed by Justice (Retd) G D Sharma, which is allegedly working against the Mandal Commission identified OBCs in J&K.
Faquir Chand Satia, General SecretaryAll J&K Prajapati Sabha and President of All India Backward Federation demanded that the proposed dedicated commission for OBC reservation in Panchayat Raj Institutions, Local Bodies, must be headed by an OBC person besides OBC members.
Bharat Bhushan Verma, senior comrade of OBC community, demanded that caste census should have a separate column for OBC masses, removal of word “Rural” from the central lists of OBC written against Barbar, Kumhars, Dhobi and Teli. He also demanded inclusion of Yogi and Bowria castes in the central lists of OBCs and abolition of Creamy Layer barrier for issuance of OBC certificates.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Bansi Lal choudhary, Balwant Kataria, Raj Kumar Chalotra, Manga Ram, Vijay Kumar Prajapati, Bishan Lal Dogra, Shabir Ahmed Salaria, Abdul Majid, Mohd Latif Qureshi, Talvinder Singh, Sohan Singh verma, Sumitra Devi, Arjit Kumar Kashyap and Ghulam Mohd Sheer Gujri.
