OBC Cell seeks reconstitution of Advisory Board

JAMMU,  July 28: National Conference OBC Cell on Saturday sought reorganization and reconstitution of the Advisory Board for Other Backward Classes in the State, as it failed on deliverance front due to political interference.
Addressing the workers at Akhnoor this afternoon, Vice Chairperson of the Cell,  Abdul Gani Teli said since the Board had been set up by the erstwhile PDP-BJP Coalition Government, most of them had leanings with these two parties. He said the Board was politically motivated and it neglected the backward communities at large and adopted partisan approach in implementing various programmes aimed at ameliorating the lot of the weaker sections of the society.
He said the Board failed in satiating the urges and aspirations of the targeted segments of the population like the previous government failed on all fronts.
The other speakers highlighted various issues confronted to the OBCs and sought immediate administrative intervention in redressing these.  They also sought streamlining of the OBC certificates by doing away with the provision of their validity for two years. They demanded these certificates to be issued on one-time basis like similar other cases.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Jagdish Dutt Sodi, Sain Dass, Dr Gafoor,  Ghain Chand,  Kuldeep Kour, Kupra Ram, Danish Gutam  and Devi Dayal.
