OBC Maha Sabha reiterates 27 pc reservation demand

JAMMU, Jan 10: The OBC Maha Sabha of Shakti Nagar organized a function on the eve of Lohri today.
Addressing the function Bansi Lal Choudhary convener of Mahasabha disclosed that 65 years after the implementation of Constitution in the State  the OBCs who constitute 40 percent  of State’s population have not still been provided their fundamental and constitutional rights of 27 percent reservations guaranteed by Supreme Court of India.
He said despite this the political parties ruled over 60 years in the State have used them as vote bank and never given them any recognition and representation and kept them deprived of their constitutional rights.
He said the State OBCs can’t have their members in the law making body. He said Hans Raj Dogra was the lone MLA who represented this class in Assembly from 1996 to 2002.
During the programme an appeal was made to the Governor of the State to settle the grievances of OBCs regarding which a deputation of OBC Maha Sabha has already submitted a detailed memorandum on April 8, 2013.
The others who were present in the programme included Mangat Ram (retd DySP), Vishal Choudhary, Rajesh Omi, Chaman Lal Sanotra, Vijay Mehra, Kamar Mehra and Sat Pal.
