OBC Mahasabha takes out ‘Mashal’ rally

JAMMU, Dec 24: All J&K OBC Mahasabha took out a large protest rally in support of their demands in the old Jammu city here this evening.
A large number of activists of the OBC Mahasabha and members from the community assembled at Moti Bazar this evening  and stared their Mashal protest march. They were holding candles/ marshals in their hands and raising slogans in support of their demands.
The activists after passing through Moti Bazaar, Raj Tilak Road, Purani Mandi reached at City Chowk. Some leaders addressed the gathering and culminated their protest there.  They were demanding implementation of Mandal Commission  report in toto and 27 % reservation for the OBC community in the State.  Youth leaders Charanjeet Chargotra, Arjit Kumar and others were also accompanying.
They alleged that members of the OBC community were facing severe discrimination in the State as Government has denied them  benefits of reservation which are available in other parts of the country. They also criticized Congress, NC and PDP for their negative role  and alleged that OBC members would teach lesson to the parties not guarding their interests.
They also demanded that Government should reserve seats for the OBCs in MCs and Block Development Councils. They sought change in the nomenclature of  OSC to OBC as per verdict of apex court in 1992 on Mandal Commission.
Prominent among those leading included K L Basotra,  Abdul Qadir,  M L Balgotra, Abdul GHani tel,  Ayodhya Kumar, Ravi Verma, R L Chargotra, B L Choudhary and Rattan Lal.
