OBC organisations reject ‘Dedicated Commission’

JAMMU, July 31: Representatives of J&K OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Federation, Backward Classes Union-Rajouri, Poonch and presidents of OBC Castes & Communities under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra held a meeting here today and condemned the alleged discrimination by Union and J&K governments with OBCs of J&K in constituting ‘Backward Classes Dedicated Commission-2024′ in which there is no representation of OBCs.
“We reject the non-OBC body of this Dedicated Commission,” speakers in the meeting said.
Convener, OBC Adhikar Tringa Yatra, Bansi Lal Choudhary said that OBCs of J&K are still living the life of 2nd class citizens due to injustice given by the erstwhile and present Governments on the recommendations of non-OBC Commissions.
He further said that J&K government constituted Backward Classes Commission including present Socially & Educationally Backward Classes Commission 2020 with Chairman and Members from upper castes.
“This is the reason why the implementation of 27 per cent reservation in recruitments in J&K government Services, Higher Education and other places for the OBCs has not yet been done,” he maintained adding, “Tenth OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra towards Billawar-Basholi and Kathua city will start from September 28, 2024 to October 1, 2024.”
Kasturi Lal Basotra, chairman OBC Mahasabha, Faquir Chand Satia, president AIBCF J&K UT Unit, Kewal Fotra, president All J&K Sain Samaj, Mohd Sahbir Sambyal, president Dhobi Biradri, Ghulam Hassan Sheer Gujri, president All J&K OBC Welfare Forum’ Raj Kumar Chalotra, Mohan Lal Pawar, Darshan Mehra, Balwant Kataria, Manohar Lal Tidyal, Manga Ram, Vijay Kumar Prajapati, Talvinder Singh, Sohan Singh Verma and others were also present on the occasion.
