JAMMU, Jan 14: A meeting of All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) was held here under the chairmanship of its president, Abdul Majid Malik in which the matter of change in nomenclature from OSC to OBC was discussed.
All the participants said that Government has not changed the Reservation Act of 2004.
They said that Government has passed the same reservation act of 2004 with a change from OSC to OBC and rest of the act remained the same.
The meeting said the gazette released regarding this nomenclature change which got its implementation from December 26 last year, does not clarify about the implementation of the Apex Court’s judgement of 1992 on Mandal report.
It said on the other hand Government is adamant for referral of all posts to JKSSB and JKPSC to deprive the aspirants from among the OBCs.
Participants showed great resentment against Government which took 10 years to change the nomenclature only and want to cheat the OBCs like the previous Governments of regional political parties.
Government has actually legalized the reservation on the name of areas which does not exist anywhere in the country, the meeting said.
It said OBCs should have a separate entity like the rest part of the country but in J& K under the BJP with OBC Prime Minister, the OBCs have been amalgamated with RBA and ALC/ LoC only to support the already enacted act by the then Government of 2004.
Speakers further elaborated that 27% reservation could be divided on the self created unconstitutional and illegal categories on the name of areas like RBA and ALC/LoC.
All participants once again appealed the Government not to side line JK OBCs on the name of ‘change in nomenclature’ but must come in front to grant 27% due share to the newly created category OBC for the purpose to do justice. Till the decision referral of posts must be stopped.
Those who put forth the demands were Madan Lal, Jagdish Verma, Gurmeet Singh, K K Fotra, Rajinder Sikka, Ashiq Hussain Hajam, Brij Mehra, Prem Bogal, Mohammad Rashid Fouji, Abdul Razaq Qureshi, Abdul Kareem Hanam, Abdul Hamid Najar, Noor Mohd Najar and Prof Kali Dass.
