JAMMU, Mar 29: Various organizations of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) including OBC Mahasabha and All India Backward Classes Federation organised OBC Adhikar Tringa Yatra from High Court Chowk at Janipur to Dogra Chowk near Press Club.
The grand rally passed through New Plot, Sarwal Colony, Rehari Colony, Rajpura, Shakti Nagar, Bhagwati Nagar, Canal Road, Jewel chowk and then culminated at Dogra Chowk near main Tawi bridge. The participants were demanding their constitutional rights incoluding implementation of Mandal Commission report in J&K UT (27% reservation for OBCs) and their share in “Panchayati Raj System” besides in Urban Local Bodies.
During the Adhikar Yatra the participants raised the slogans that the 27% reservation be implemented in JK-UT and the OBC’s identified by Mandal Commission should get their share in JK-UT Legislature and in Lok-Sabha.
The census-2021 should also be made as caste based census by providing separate column for all castes as our country is a big group of different religions and of different castes and creamy layer should be abolished.
They pointed out that OBCs are facing a lot of difficulties is getting their OBC/OSC certificates from the certificate issuing authorities (Tehsildars).
The speakers said that erstwhile Governments and the present BJP Govt have made Backward Classes Commissions in Jammu & Kashmir since 1968. Gajinder Gadkar Commission-1968,Wazir Janki Nath Committee-1969, Justice KK.Gupta Commission-1993, Permanent Backward Classes Commission-1995, 1997 and now Justice GD Sharma Socially & Educationally Backward Commission but were headed by Non-OBC’s and without any OBC member in it. The Jammu & Kashmir Govt’s have spent crores of rupees but no outcome witnessed.
The present Justice GD Sharma Socially & Educationally Backward classes Commission constituted since two years back has submitted their report.
Several senior members of the OBC category who spoke on the occasion included Bansi Lal Choudhary, Faquir Chand Satia, Kasturi Lal Basotra, Rajinder Sikka, Mohan Lal Pawar, Vikas Mehra, Amit Mehra, Manohar Lal Tidyal, Mohan Lal Pawar, Murari Lal Balgotra, Gopal Sanotra, Gurpreet Dogra,Romesh Angotra, Ravi Kumar Dogra and others.
