JAMMU, Jan 19: The United Forum of various OBCs organizations have decided to launch next phase of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra for implementation of 27 % reservation for the OBCs in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The executive committee of the United Forum of various OBC organisations including- All J&K OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Federation, All J&K Welfare Forum and heads of various biradaris/ communities, in an urgent meeting held here today decided to chalk out strategy/ future course of action and launch OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra towards Billawar- Basohli- Kathua, Sunderbani-Nowshera- Rajouri-Poonch, Udhampur-Katra-Reasi-Pouni-Bhambla etc.
The purpose of launching this Yatra is to draw the attention of the Government/ UT Administration towards implementation of Mandal Commission Report in the Jammu and Kashmir besides protection of other rights of the OBCs in JKUT, convenor of the Mahasabha said.
It was further decided that yet another meeting in this connection will be held on January 21 at All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha, Moti Bazaar, Jammu at 1 pm. The matter with regard to change of nomenclature from OSC to OBC and Amendment in Panchayat Raj Act -1989 will also be discussed during the meeting.
They also urged the Government to suspend the advertisement/ recruitment notices till the reservation for the OBCs is fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. The educated children from the OBC communities are suffering in big way. They demanded to provide proper quota to the OBCs in Local Bodies elections, grant scholarships to OBC students and conduct fresh census for this community with separate column for OBCs.
