JAMMU, Jan 21: Various organizations of the Other Backwards Classes (OBCs) today resolved to launch `OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra’ from Jammu on February 26, 2024.
It was decided in the General Body meeting of the OBC organizations including OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Fedration and All J&K Welfare Forum of Srinagar besides presidents of different communities under the banner of `OBC Adhikar Tringa Yatra’, held at All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha, Moti Bazar, Jammu today.
During the meeting, the office bearers and heads of various organizations/biradaris jointly decided that `OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra’ will be taken out towards Udhampur-Katra-Reasi-Bhamla-Sunderbani on 26.02.2024 from Press Club Jammu via Dhansal-Jindrah-Kishanpur etc and then towards Billawar-Basholi-Kathua on April 6, 2024, inviting attention of the Government towards implementation 27% reservation in Jammu-Kashmir.
During the meeting several senior leaders of OBC Samaj were honoured. They included Ajeet Singh Sangotra, presently senior vice-president of All J&K Prajapati Sabha, who was in 1953 Movement of OBC Samaj.
The others who were felicitated on the occasion include-Murari Lal Balgotra, president All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha; Mohd Shabir Sambyal, president Dhobi Biradari; Kasturi Lal Basotra, Chairman OBC Mahasabha; Ayodhya Kumar Manawa, president Prajapati Sabha; Reham Deen Malik, president Teli Biradri; Shashi Verma, president Vishwkarma Sabha; Sumitra Devi, president Bowria Biradri; Ghulam Hassan Sheer Gujri, president All J&K Welfare Association and Mohd Latif Malik advocate, as these senior leaders are working since thirty years for keeping alive the struggle of OBC Samaj.
Senior leaders Faquir Chand Satia, Kewal Fotra, Mohan Lal Pawar issued an appeal to all the OBC Samaj of JK-UT for giving their contributions in the coming OBC Tiranga Yatra.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion include- Bansi Lal Choudjhary, Vijay Kumar, Balwant Katria, Amarjeet, Jeet Raj Mehra, GK Sanotra, Abdul Gani and Madan Lal.
