JAMMU, Jan 23: A 30-year-old ‘occultist’ was arrested by Satwari police for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor handicapped girl on the pretext of healing her of sickness.
This was disclosed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Randhir Singh during a press conference at Satwari police station this afternoon. SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SHO Satwari police station Inspector Kulbir Singh Choudhary were also present during the conference.
The accused has been identified as Bal Krishan, son of Jagdish Raj alias Jang Bhadur, a resident of Nandpur, Miran Sahib, SP said.
SP stated that the modus operandi of the occultist was that he promises young girls especially minors residing in Miran Sahib, Phylian Mandial and Khandwal areas that they will get rid of their miseries through magic and after convincing his targets, the accused used to establish regular contact with them by giving them mobile phones, SP added.
“He used to exploit people, especially minor girls by calling them to a secluded place and sexually exploiting them”, Randhir Singh added.
The matter of sexual exploitation of women came to light, when a minor handicapped girl lodged a complaint against the accused with Satwari police station, he said, adding that in her complaint, the victim alleged that she was sexually exploited by the accused on pretext of curing her ailment.
“Accused called the victim to a secluded place on the pretext of healing her of sickness and then sexually exploited her”, Singh said, adding that the accused also threatened the girl not to disclose the episode to anyone, otherwise she or her family members will be get punished by goddess.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 13/15 under Section 376 RPC got registered at Satwari police station and accused was arrested, SP added.
Further investigation into the case is going on, Randhir Singh said.
