JAMMU, Oct 22: The October 22 in 1947 was the blackest day in the history of J&K when Pakistan invaded J&K along with the tribesmen. This was the unanimous view of the speakers at a seminar organized at Press Club, here, this evening by Jammu Kashmiri Unity Foundation (JKUF) on the topic “Invasion or Tribal Raid-1947’’.
The speakers in the seminar included Balwant Singh Mankotia, president JKNPP and MLA, Hukum Chand Sharma, secretary J&K PCC, Sohail Kazmi, secretary general, Press Club, Anwar Choudhary, Gujar leader, Rajiv Chuni, president SOS an organization of PoK Refugees, Ajajt Jamwal, convener J&KUF and Dr Ajay Chrungoo, chairman Panun Kahsmir.
They emphasized the need of remembering this day as the day when J&K was pushed into state of instability and perpetual was after a period of peace which was prevalent in the State at that time.
Speaking on the occasion Hukum Chand Sharma said that Pakistan lost the war against the J&K because it did not want this Muslim majority State to become part of India while the people of the State wanted accession with India. He made an appeal to all peace loving people to rise and defeat the communal game of Pakistan.
Balwant Singh Mankotia said October 22, 1947 is the day of invasion and to call it a tribal raid is a misnomer. The tribals were used by Pakistani army as the frontal hordes to hide the nature of regular invasion of the State. The day is blackest day because this invasion broke the State and rendered thousands and lakhs of Hindus and Sikhs as refugees in their own state.
Rajiv Chuni said the Pak invasion not only changed the political but historical map of the country also while Anwar Choudhary said the day reminds us of the conspiracy to divide the State on communal liens.
Dr Ajay Chrungoo said on October 22 in 1947 Pakistan declared first war against India in J&K and this was an invasion and not a tribal raid.
He said the army conducted this invasion only using tribesmen form North West Frontier Province to disguise it as revolt of the people against the Maharaja.
Sohail Kazmi while congratulating the JKUF for taking the initiative said it was the need of the hour to hold the seminar while, Dr Hari Dutt Shishu ,Executive Member JKUF said that J&K which has its boundaries touching five nations including China, Tibet, USSR has been broken by Pakistan  and area belonging to J&K under it has been sold to China and the Gilgit and Baltistan has been usurped by it.
