Octogenarian killed in road mishap; lady battling for life

JAMMU, Sept 15: An old man was killed in a road mishap while a woman who tried to commit self immolation is battling for her life in GMC&H Jammu.
According to Kathua Police, an octogenarian person died when he was hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road at Chak Sajjan near National Highway this evening.
He has been identified as Jangi Ram, 80, son of Sadhu Ram. He was first taken to DH Kathua where seeing his condition critical doctors referred him to GMC&H Jammu for special treatment. But he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. His body has been kept in GMC&H mortuary and after postmortem it will be handed over to family tomorrow for cremation. The Hatli More Police Post has registered a case in this regard.
In another incident a lady from Bihar who was working as a labourer in Kathua tried to end her life by setting herself ablaze after dousing kerosene oil over herself in Ward Number 12, Kathua.
She has been identified as Suman Devi, 30, wife of Deen Dayal of Bihar. She received 90 percent burns and was admitted in GMC Jammu where she is battling for her life. The Kathua police has registered a case and started investigation.
