The imprisonment of self styled Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim may give relief to people who don’t want to get exploited in the name of God, and Godhood. But certain people definitely would have got hurt as they may not expect such devilish actions from their icons of faith. It is true that humans are helpless. Hard work, confidence, determination is all fine but there is much which is beyond the control of humans. And this helplessness has been always and is being exploited by the religious preachers claiming to be the spokespersons of God, as if, they have already seen God and by their directions can solve all the mundane as well spiritual problems.
There is a constitutional guarantee that everybody is free to believe and propagate his religion but there should be a definite law to curb those who loot the honour and dignity along with huge finances in the name of religion or godhood. The nuisance created due to emergence of self styled Godmen is increasing day by day. Unbelievable that these people have mammoth following. It underscores the fact Indian people still lack scientific temper. We have to go a long way in understanding the religions and Godhood. It is the demand of time to educate the people but who is knowledgeable enough and sincere who will not exploit the emotions is a million dollar question to ponder over?
