Of tuitions

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govt Teacher caught red handed imparting tuition’, DE Jun 9. It may not be taken as sensational news. It is an open secret known to all sane and social persons in the society. Almost all the High / Higher Secondary Schools Govt. or Private recognized are having a tutorial at a stone’s throw of their schools. All the students of 10th – 12th class have compulsorily to attend this tutorial in toto (Save the few) either before school hours or after school hours. The same students, the same teachers, the same subject but venues two. It is two in one Subject, school, teacher one but the payment is two. It is educationally unsound               A tender youth of 15-17 cannot sustain brain stress for 7- 9 hours.
Secondly, “To devote too much time in studies is sloth” Francis Beacon. It may be beneficial to the teacher / school but detrimental to student. It is a chronic disease, Needs a strong and expert doctor to eradicate it. No wonder 90 students in Math class of 10th. There used to be 400-500 students in Govt Hr Sec Schools 11th Class when CCE Pattern was in vogue. The students had only to arrange Rs.2000 each subject to pay tuition to the concerned teacher to get comfortable pass marks. Govt. / Educational functionaries can well imagine the situation & take necessary action. Even the Govt. Orders for vacation are not obeyed containing strict warning of disciplinary action, only this time D. C. Samba has checked the schools and sought on spot closure through her administrative acumen of the schools functioning in defiance to the Government. Orders for these summer vacation. Some schools are still functioning in disguise. The  Minister for Education Jenab Naeem Akhtar seems to be in action.
Yours etc….
