Officers of Higher Education Deptt visit UIET construction site of Kathua Campus

KATHUA, Sept 1: Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, visited Kathua Campus at Janglote today along with team of officials including DC Kathua, Ramesh Kumar and Director RUSA, Tariq Zargar.
The team took stock of the ongoing construction of the upcoming University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), sanctioned for Kathua Campus, University of Jammu under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. The team of officials was received by Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, Professor Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, Dr Dawood Iqbal Baba, Coordinator Campuses and Dr Vivek Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Kathua Campus.
The Engineers of JKPCC, the executing agency, assigned with the responsibility of constructing the buildings of UIET at Kathua Campus at the designated site Janglote, apprised the Commissioner Secretary about the present ongoing construction works and discussed the building plans. Dr Samoon advised Deputy Commissioner, Kathua and JKPCC officials to expedite the process of construction of UIET buildings so that various planned B Tech courses in engineering streams could be started at Kathua Campus from the forthcoming academic session.
On the occasion, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, also briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the progress of the works of upcoming Academic/ Administrative Blocks, Boys and Girls Hostels at Janglote, Kathua Campus under PMRP grants. She also informed that very soon, the Campus shall move from the rented premises to the new Academic Block, which is nearing completion.
It is pertinent to mention that UIET at Kathua Campus has been sanctioned in favour of University of Jammu under RUSA at a projected cost of over Rs  20 crore. The construction activity with respect to UIET has already started since June 2016 by JKPCC, the executing agency.
