Srinagar, Nov 28: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Anantnag has ordered initiation of disciplinary proceedings into alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by a Panchayat Inspector in the district.
It has been stated that the said employee influenced a prospective DDC candidate and barred him from participating in the on-going electoral process.
“Pending enquiry into the alleged misconduct, violation of Model Code of Conduct and influencing the prospective candidate not to take part in the electoral process, Mohammad Shafi Malik, Panchayat Inspector, Block Achabal is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached with Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Anantnag,” reads an order vide number 399 of 2020 issued here.
Notably, Election Commissioner K.K. Sharma had earlier assured strict action against the violators of the code of conduct.
The DPEO has also directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Anantnag-who is also the Nodal Officer, MCC- to serve a charge sheet and conduct enquiry into the matter. He has also been asked to furnish a detailed report within 7 days.
