UPA 2 leaders are currently delivering a lot of speeches in respect of the ensuing Assembly polls of five States and seem to be busy in bragging about the pro- poor projects and schemes introduced by the Congress party. They skip , avoid and ignore the spine chilling high prices of the general commodities. Vegetables’ prices have broken all past records. The living condition of a middle income earner has become very difficult. Worrying food prices must disturb the sleep of the Government as the food inflation has risen to over 19%. Onion prices rose by 278% as compared to last year. The prices of meat, eggs, fish etc rose by 17.50%. After onions, the turn came of a hitherto unknown victim, the tomatoes followed by potatoes for the first time to sore in prices beyond a commoner’s bearing. Who shall lift the veil from the conspiracy against the middle level income earner ? And how come should the leaders in power muster as much courage to ask for the votes from the victim of “Kamar todh mehangai”?
