Oil Tanker Owners protest for extension of tenders

JAMMU, Feb 24: Demanding extension of the existing tenders, members of J&K Oil Tanker Owners Association observed a token strike and also held a protest demonstration.
The protest, organized under the leadership of S S Khorana- president of the Association, was held at IOCL Depot, Jammu & Srinagar. The protesters raised slogans in support of their demand and urged the authorities to take up the issue with IOCL.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by the Association leaders, who said that their demand was most genuine and need to be considered.
Mushtaq Ahmed Rafiquee, president of Srinagar Kerosene Oil Dealers Association and Abdul Ahad Pandit, president of Kashmir Valley Petrol Dealers Association were also present during the protest.
Later, the protesting members also called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu and apprised him of their demand.
The Div Com gave a patient hearing to the Oil Tanker owners and assured the Association that he would take up their issues with higher authorities of IOCL in the presence of representatives of all Oil Companies.
Following the meeting with Div Com and assurance by him, the Association suspended its token strike in the afternoon.
