KATHUA, Oct 8: A 90 year old lady Melo Devi, wife of Dharampal of village Chandwa in Chadwal area of Kathua district drowned in Ravi Canal this evening.
According to police, Melo Devi who was on way from Chandwa to Chadwal went to the bank of canal to wash her hands but she slipped in the canal and drowned.
The police and her relatives launched a search operation to locate her but could not trace her up to late in the night. Later the gates of the canal were closed and water will be depleted during the night to search launch fresh operations tomorrow morning.
