JAMMU, Feb 22: An old man was today knocked to death by an unknown vehicle in Kot area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Gharota.
According to the reports, a pedestrian namely Girdhari Lal (80) son of Sardu Ram, resident of Kot was hit by a speeding unknown vehicle at Kot on Bantalab-Gharota Road near SBI Bank, this morning.
The old man received serious injuries in the mishap and was rushed to Government Hospital Sarwal by the accused who then managed to flee from there. The doctors at Sarwal Hospital referred the patient to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was brought dead by the doctors.
After postmortem of the deceased his dead body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Gharota and investigation started.
