SAMBA, Dec 21: An old mortar shell was found in a drain located in the border village Jarai near here today. A sensation spread in the entire area in border village Jarai of Rajpura tehsil of the district when local people found the mortar shell.

On seeing the mortar shell, the people informed the police. On receiving the information, the police and bomb disposal squad reached the spot and cordoned off the area and started security checks. At the same time, the bomb disposal squad took it to a safe place and defused it. Former Sarpanch, Vinay Sharma said on the spot that on Saturday our local people found a mortar shell which had been defused by the security forces. “Our village is near the India-Pakistan International Border. Right now the information is being ascertained as to where this shell has come from because the firing has also been closed for a long time now, some small tyres were attached to it. Right now the police have started gathering information about this’’.
