JAMMU, July 18: J&K Batwal Welfare Association (JKBWA) has urged the Chief Minister to intervene personally to extricate about 33 kanal land of an old widow which has allegedly been acquired forcefully by an influential land grabber.
Addressing a press conference here today, an 80-year-old widow namely Raji Devi, resident of village Kapur Pur, tehsil RSPura, alleged that her land measuring 32 kanals and 15 marlas has been acquired illegally and fraudulently by a man namely Sarban Kumar of the same locality.

The lady also alleged that she has been threatened by the land grabber that he would eliminate her if she approaches the legal authorities against him. The old lady also alleged that her standing crop worth thousands of rupees have several times been forcibly got cut by the said person and this time also he has planted there saplings of paddy crop forcibly. She said that the concerned police station is maintaining silence, as the land grabber is very influential and financially strong also.
Also speaking on the occasion, JKBWA president and former MLA, Sat Paul Lakhotra, appealed the CM Mehbooba Mufti to intervene and direct the police and Revenue authorities to take action to get her forcibly occupied land extricated from the clutches of the land grabber.
Lakhotra also invited Chief Minister’s kind attention towards JKBWA’s memorandum forwarded to her office by the Governor House more than a year ago and urged for consideration of all the demands listed therein.
Prominent among others who participated in the press conference were IDAS Officer (retd) GR Kaith, Kamal Chand Motan, Thoru Ram Mandi, Narayan Dass Bassa, Des Raj Kaith, Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra, Swamy Raj Nand, Piara Lal Lakhotra and Bua Ditta Kaith.
