SRINAGAR, July 22: Upping the ante on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over media gag in Kashmir valley, main opposition National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah today alleged that the State Government continues to plant stories blaming everyone but itself while the toll of death and injured mounts.
“No one. The media gagged itself & blamed the State Government is what they will say!!!!,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former Chief Minister of the State, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. Mr Abdullah was reacting to a tweet which read, “Jammu and Kashmir High Court questions State Government who ordered the media gag and why?”
“While the @MehboobaMufti Govt continues to plant stories blaming everyone but itself for the situation the toll of dead & injured mounts,” he added. However, the tweets by Mr Abdullah got a mixed response on the micro-blogging site with some supporting him while other asking him to remember his tenure as the Chief Minister of the State in 2010 unrest when more than 120 persons, mostly youths, were killed in security force firing.
“@abdullah_omar people will admire you and remember you for long time. We are facing leadership crisis and you can bridge it between,” a tweet in favour of Abdullah read. “You mean there were no “casualties” during the REIGN of your Government? Sell that to #Pakistan,” another tweet read. Meanwhile, there were others who urged him to shun political differences with the ruling PDP and work together to restore calm in the Kashmir, where the death toll has mounted to 49 since July 9. “@abdullah_omar @MehboobaMufti here’s a thought – instead of blame game, resolving the situation will be in bigger interest for India,” a tweet said.
Meanwhile, Abdullah accusing the State Government of allegedly helping J&K Cricket Association elections to have their Minister elected as chairman, in July 19 said with such misplaced priorities, no wonder why Kashmir valley is in flames.
“BJP -PDP Government has help J&K cricket association elections to have their Minister elected chairman. Bravo @MehboobaMufti, well done!!!!,” Mr Abdullah had said.
